Course Description

What does it mean to draw near to the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ—not only through learning about his life, but by entering more deeply into the mercy, love, light, and beautiful character he carried?

In this eleven-week journey, we will travel through the teachings of Sidi Shaykh Muḥammad Saʿīd al-Jamal ar-Rifāʿī ash-Shādhdhulī, exploring the Prophet ﷺ as a mercy to all the worlds and a beloved doorway through which hearts may draw nearer to Allāh. Along the way, we will contemplate the Muḥammadan Reality, the secret of love, the Divine Name Allāh, spiritual guidance and inheritance, ṣalawāt, the ocean of tawḥīd, the blessed family of the Prophet ﷺ, the unity of the human family, and the luminous beauty of prophetic character.

This is a course for beloveds who wish not only to know more, but to receive more deeply—to renew love for the Prophet ﷺ and discover how his mercy and way may illuminate our relationship with Allāh, with one another, and with the life we have been given.

Inshaallāh, each gathering will offer a space for study, contemplation, remembrance, and companionship—a place where the heart may listen for what these teachings are inviting us to receive and carry into the world.

What You May Receive Along the Way

Through reading, reflection, remembrance, conversation, and occasional experiential practices, beloveds may find opportunities to:

"Sufism is the annihilation of the moods of the self … remembrance with reunion and ecstasy of love with obedience … It is the purity of closeness after the cloudiness of distance, and sitting with Allah completely. Why does Allah give the name mahabba (gift of love) to this quality of love? The yearning (himma) of the student is oil in the fire of God’s Passion which makes this fire in the heart of the lover grow very hot and strong and bright … Connect with the stories of the holy beloveds who walk in the Way of God, each one searching for his Reality.”~ Sidi

Mercy for All the Worlds:The Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ

Salih Kent & Mahdi al-Jamal

“We have not sent you save as a Mercy to all beings.” [Q21:107].

“For the Light which shone from the face of His Messenger was to pierce through all the veils of ignorance, blindness and false beliefs with the sword of the words, “There is no god but Allāh and Muḥammad is His Messenger ﷺ .”– Ocean of the Mercy, pg. 46

We begin our journey by drawing near to the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ as a mercy sent to all the worlds. Through Sidi’s teachings, we will explore the ocean of mercy carried by the Prophet ﷺ
and the light that came through him ﷺ to awaken hearts to Allah.

Week Two: Oct 9, 2026

The Essence of the Reality of Muḥammad ﷺ

4:00-5:30 pm PT/ 7:00-8:30 pm ET

Dr. Mahabbah Young, MD, Mdiv

“Do you not see how Allāh sets forth a parable: a goodly word is as a goodly tree whose root is firmly fixed, and its branches [reach] to the sky giving its fruit at all times, by the leave of its Lord; and Allāh sets forth parables for mankind in order that they may remember.” [Q14:24-25].

Muḥammad ﷺ who was sent to the universe as the Last of God’s Prophets and Messengers, was to carry and to bear witness to everything that He, Glory be to Him, wanted to reveal of Himself, the All-Merciful, the All-Compassionate, to all His Creation.

Then what kind of a being was he ﷺ , who was the perfect mirror for his Creator and Lord, the First and the Last, the Revealed and the Hidden?

This class invites us to contemplate more deeply the spiritual reality of The Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ, whom Sidi describes as a perfect mirror for his Creator and Lord. Together, we will explore the mystery of the Muḥammadan Reality and the mercy, beauty, and Divine revelation reflected through him ﷺ.

No Class on Oct 16, 2026.

And when I have formed him and breathed into him from My spirit. [Q38:72].

“Allāh is the one who sees Himself in His mirror and witnesses the beauty of Himself and the Jalal of Himself through the light of divine overflowing. So He becomes a knower of Himself in His mirror and Lord of the jamal and the jalal and He is the Seer and the Seen.” – pg. 39, The Secret of the Spirit

“Beloved, know in whose presence you sit; know who whispers these words into the ear of your heart. If you hear me, know me; if you would know me, you must enter. All of these words are in the way of metaphors. With what voice shall I call you but the voice of your own quest?” -Music of the Soul, pg. 168

This class explores the mystery of the Muḥammadan inheritance and the guide who carries the Truth for those who seek the way to Allāh. Through Sidi’s teachings, we will consider spiritual guidance not simply as words or instruction, but as a living transmission that speaks to the heart of the seeker.

Through Sidi’s teachings in The Resolute Prophets, we will reflect on the qualities that made the Prophet ﷺ a living expression of mercy and guidance. The Ṭarīqa of the Prophet Muhammad is one. It is the same way as that of Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. If you want to know the way to reach God, then pray five times a day and make adh-dhikr. This way of the Shādhdhuliyya is the straight way. – Music of the Soul, pg. 32

The love of the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ opens a doorway through which the heart may draw nearer to Allāh. Through Sidi’s teachings and the experiential practice of ṣalawāt, we will explore how remembrance, love, and prayers upon the Prophet ﷺ can deepen our connection to the Muḥammadan way.

4:00-5:30 pm PT/ 7:00-8:30 pm ET

Dr. ‘Abd al-Haqq Godlas

“O Allāh! Make my absorption commended by him and praised by You.”

“O Allāh! Make my drowning in the spring of the sea of oneness pure and without blame through both the outside and the inside of Your noble Sharīʿah; for there is no doubt but that the one who drowns in this spring, which is the ocean of oneness, is rooted in a safe and secure foundation from the morass of oneness (at-Tawḥīd) and is raised above all freedom and binding limitation.” – Al-Wadhīfah aṣ-Ṣalāt al-Mashīshiyyah, pg. 103

This class invites us into the profound prayer of Ibn Mashīsh and its language of love, praise, and immersion in the ocean of Oneness. Together, we will contemplate a way of drawing deeply into at-Tawḥīd while remaining rooted in both the inner and outer dimensions of the noble Sharīʿah.

We turn with love toward Lady Fāṭimah (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhā), beloved daughter of the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ and luminous member of his blessed family. The Way of Love Drawing Near to Allah Through the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

Murshida Shaykha Rosina-Fawzia al-Rāwī al-Rifāʿī, PhD

The love of the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ opens a beloved doorway through which the heart may draw nearer to Allāh. This class invites us to approach the Muḥammadan way not only as knowledge to be understood, but as a living path of remembrance, love, mercy, and inner transformation.

Through teaching, reflection, and the experiential practice of ṣalawāt, we will explore how love for the Prophet ﷺ can soften and refine the heart, deepen our remembrance of Allāh, and allow the qualities of mercy, humility, adab, and service to become more fully lived in our daily lives. As the heart turns with love toward the Messenger ﷺ, may that love carry us beyond ourselves and ever more deeply toward Allāh.

Week Eleven: Dec 18, 2026

From Praise to Light: Al-Ḥamīd, Al-Mubīn, and the Praiseworthy Reality

4:00-5:30 pm PT/ 7:00-8:30 pm ET

Nura Laird, MEd

On that day Allāh will pay them the recompense of their deeds in full, and they will know that Allāh, He is the Manifest Truth. [Q24:25]

Al-Mubīn: This attribute of Allāh is the True Light of which all physical light is merely a type of a kind. Allāh witnesses what is done on this earth, and nothing is hidden from Him. -The Meaning of the Names of Our Lord, pg. 103

Al-Ḥamīd: The praiseworthy existence or the highest possibility for the human being.

Al-Ḥamīd is the All-Praised, the One Who is entitled to all praise and whatever it concerns. He is He Who is the Praised for everything that exists, and for every human being. So let the exceeding of all praise be to Allāh alone.

In our final class, we turn toward the Divine Names Al-Ḥamīd, the All-Praised, and Al-Mubīn, the Manifest Truth. Through Sidi’s teachings on praise, light, and Divine manifestation, we will contemplate the praiseworthy reality and the highest possibility held within the human being, allowing these Names to illuminate the closing steps of our journey.
